A little update from me
You might have noticed that these posts are getting a little less frequent - apologies for this! I’ve been very busy behind the scenes working on and thinking about what this work looks like beyond this little blog. I hugely appreciate you all following my journey, so I thought I’d take this chance to update you on the other stuff I’ve been up to.
Moving towards working hands-on with people
Since the start of this journey, I’ve been keen to actually practice one-to-one with people, helping them to change their health behaviour. This is quite different from my previous work, where I’ve been more focussed on building digital products (e.g. apps) - but I feel like I could have so much depth of impact by helping people one-to-one, providing support that is truly tailored to them.
With this in mind, I’ve started a short introductory course on health coaching, which is giving me some of the basic coaching skills I need for this. I’m also working on a potential behaviour change approach I can use in this context (a “method”), and bank of solutions that I think could help people (I daren’t tell you how many journal articles I’ve read over the last few weeks 😅). I’ll be thinking about other ways to share this with the world - it might be a podcast, a paid course, some group sessions, or some resource packs. I’d love to know whether you’d be interested in any of this - let me know in the comments or by hitting reply!
Working with my (brilliant) collaborators to find potential opportunities
Some of you might remember that at the conference I went to in Lisbon a few weeks ago, I connected with a couple of people (Katy & Olivia) who are also interested in this weight-neutral health space.
We’re working away behind the scenes to identify what we might build, and whether we want to do it together. It’s been so lovely to have other people to mull this over with, who are just as passionate about it as me!
We’ve been having lots of interesting discussions about where the main opportunities lie, and we’re now planning some research over the next few weeks to understand what people need. We want to talk to people who are keen to improve their health, but the things they’ve tried previously (e.g. traditional diets, fitness and diet trackers, or solutions suggested by their GP) haven’t worked. If that’s you, do look out for a survey link in a future post and on my socials!
