I can help you make health changes that stick

Would you like to be looking after your body, rather than fighting it? Want to make changes that last, rather than bouncing between periods of extreme changes and then nothing at all? I can help you to make sustainable changes, so that “healthy” is just a thing that you do, rather than feeling like a constant battle which fills you with dread and guilt.

I'm a "behavioural scientist" - i.e., an expert in behaviour, and how to change it. I've been working for the last 12 years applying this to building digital health products like apps. I also have been on my own journey of getting off the "all or nothing" rollercoaster, and looking after my body and my health in a way that makes me feel good, not punished. You can read more about that here.

I'm now bringing the personal and professional together, working one-to-one, helping people to make changes in their own lives - through a new science-informed, size-inclusive, health coaching approach.

What can you offer?

I practice as a "health coach", which means that I work to support you through making changes - but by partnering with you to think about the best changes for you, rather than telling you what to do. I do this through asking questions, sharing insights about behaviour and how to change it, and helping you to make plans which fit around your life.

My approach is focussed on sustainable change. I achieve that by working with you in the following ways:

  1. Understanding yourself: Working to deeply understand you, your behaviour, and your life. I share insights from behavioural psychology to help you to understand your own behaviour better. We work together to understand what might be getting in your way, and to think about how to overcome those blockers.
  2. Finding goals that truly drive you: We will work on letting go of appearance and weight loss goals, and create goals grounded in the things that really matter to you. This is the key to long-term, sustainable change.
  3. Challenge expectations and accept your body: We'll work on building your confidence in yourself. I'll help you to think about the impact of diet culture, and how societal expectations on how we look can hold us back. We will work towards you feeling happy in yourself, and focussing on what matters.
  4. Move from restriction to intuition: I won't give you a diet plan or tell you what to eat - instead, we'll work on learning to trust your body’s eating cues. We'll work towards less guilt, more freedom, and a healthier relationship with food.
  5. Move from punishing to joyful movement: I'll help you to reconnect with movement that feels good, not punishing. I'll help you to actually enjoy exercise - not dread it, though the core principles of autonomy, competence, and relatedness.
  6. All-or-nothing-to flexibility: Learn how to make health goals and behaviours fit into your life, so changes in routine don't cause your plans to go out the window. Gain the skills to flex and respond to situations, and feel less guilt about setbacks.

The format is one-to-one sessions, online via video call. Sessions last one-hour. The number of sessions is really up to you and depends on the support you need, but I find most people feel in a good place after about 8 sessions. I only offer bundles of sessions (rather than a one-off), as often it can take a while to unpick your relationship with food and exercise, before setting good plans in place which will last.

This is a journey I've been on myself (and am still on!), and I'm really excited to support others on this path. But don't just hear it from me, here's a testimonial from a recent client:

Rosie gently guided me through confronting some of my negative thought patterns around how I think and feel about my body, as it changes through peri-menopause and post pandemic. I’ve found myself feeling a lot more focussed on what I want to achieve, and felt braver about approaching small adjustments and changes to my routine, including joining a rounders team, signing up to a close knit gym to get me feeling confident about using weights, and generally being a bit kinder to myself.

I'm currently offering special introductory pricing:

  • 4 sessions: £250
  • 8 sessions: £450
  • 12 sessions: £600

I'm intrigued, but not quite ready yet...

If you'd simple like to learn more about this space, about me, and how I can help, the best thing to do is subscribe to my newsletter, where once every 2-3 weeks I share insights and stories about how to change your behaviour in a sustainable way. You can also follow me on Instagram.

I'm also always conducting research to understand people's behaviour, test new ideas, and improve what I'm offering. This usually involves online surveys, or online interviews via video call. If you'd be interested in getting involved, just complete this short form, and indicate that you're up for taking part in research.
